My children are always watching me.
I realized this even before the snow days but this week has really brought it home. Eyes. Everywhere. All the time. Eyes. And ears.
They see Moma pray. They see Moma study. They see Moma worship. They see Moma love. They see Moma laugh and cry. They see it all.
They see. And they pay close attention.
My children are students of my life more than any other person I know now or will ever know. They hear. See. Learn. And repeat. Everything I do and say.
Change begins with me. God started a work in me that has spilled over into the lives of my children. They see me. And they learn from what I do. Good. And Bad.
We can talk and talk until we are blue in the face..but when it matters most..our kids will do WHAT WE DID...not necessarily what we said to do.
When we pay attention to them. When the watchee becomes the watcher. We can see ourselves in them. If you ever sit back and wonder.."Where did they get that from?"..chances are..good or bad..they got it from their Moma!
I have referred to my children as ducks for as long as I can remember. It's how I see us. Moma duck. Alex duck. Joya duck. Mia duck. Jerry duck. Josh duck. All of us quack quack quacking all in a row.
I don't know that ducks are animals that imitate what they see. All I know is that where I go...I expect them to follow. All of them. All in a row.
I'm going with Jesus. And I expect them to follow me. Right now..one of my ducks are out of line...but the rest of us are going to quack until he is back. All of us. Ducks in a row. Quack. Quack. Quacking!
Duck see. Duck do.
Proverbs 22:6 KJV
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
