Music for your Spirit!

Are you saved....or nahhhh?

If we're honest, we know we don't want to go to hell, but we don't really want to serve God either. We want to have one foot in the world and the other in the Kingdom. We want to straddle the spiritual fence.

A lot of us are spiritual fence straddlers. We're obviously not on fire for God, but of course we can't admit to living for the devil either. We're not willing to abandon God and leave the church, but we're not fully alive and enjoying the abundant life Jesus came to bring. We're smack in the middle. Of the spiritual fence.

This is nothing new. Jesus tells the church at Laodicea, "Some of you are not hot [both feet in the Kingdom], you are not even cold [both feet in the world], you are lukewarm [foot in the Kingdom, foot in the world]." And it will end badly for the straddlers: "There is no life there. I will spit you out of my mouth" (see Revelation 3:15-16).

Paul said much of the same thing to the church of Corinth: he told them that he could not consider them spiritual, but he could not call them worldly either. They were a mixture of the two. They were carnal (see 1 Corinthians 3:1) or stuck in the flesh.

Paul was basically asking these Corinthian Christians if they were saved...or nahhhhh? They were Christians but still straddling that spiritual fence.

Many of us today do the same thing. We want just enough Jesus to get us to heaven, but we want to hold onto a little bit of the world too. We're lukewarm, tepid, not hot or cold, not heavenly and not earthly, not sold out to God and not entirely through renting from the devil. So we get stuck up there on that spiritual fence.

Time to hop down off that fence and kick that or nahhhhh to the curb.
