What does my name taste like?

I'll be your whore. Your slut. Your side line. I'll be whatever you choose to call me. I'll be exactly what I was..a sinner. But all you, devil, can try to do is call me out by what you knew of me.

Because now I am redeemed. And you can keep my name in your mouth. Because as long as I have God tucked in my heart..I CAN'T HEAR YOU..speak up..what did you say, devil?

I wasn't sure I would blog this morning because there was too much old Netta trying to bubble up out of me. But then my Father reminded me this morning that it isn't what I am called..IT IS WHO I ANSWER TO. So. Let me educate some folks.

Yes, educate. I could argue my case. But my Father also reminded me that was His job. And He had already passed down His verdict. So now all I have to do is just present the facts.

Fact one. God called me from the depths of my depravity. And unlike you, you, and you..who assumes that you know how big a mess I was..He used me from where I was. I didn't have to clean up or dress up. He reached right down into my mess..and redeemed me.

Fact two. What God has made clean..no man, woman, or devil can deem unclean..I have been washed squeaky clean by the blood of Jesus.

Fact three. Speaking of Jesus. My Saviour came from a long line of women just like me..read Matthew 1:1-11. Women society cast aside and ridiculed. God had a purpose and plan for them. He has a purpose and a plan me.

Fact four. Rahab was a prostitute before she became a member of God's chosen people..read Joshua 2. She hid men at her house overnight unchaperoned.

Fact five. Tamar tricked her father-in-law into fathering her twin sons..read Genesis 38. Judah reneged on a promise to let Tamar have children by her brother-in-law..so she took matters into her own hands.

Fact six. Bathsheba had an affair with King David..read 2 Samuel 11. The husband saw the woman and wanted her..he knew who she was because he made it his business to find out..and he made her his.

Fact seven. Ruth, a woman of a cursed nation, was sent by her mother-in-law to lay with her close relative, Boaz..read Ruth. Naomi schemed and plotted to set Ruth up to get what she wanted for her.

So. There is no place, no sin, no depth that God did not reach out His hand to get to me. He got to Jesus' female ancestors. He'll get to even you.

Isaiah 59:1

Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

So. Keep my name in your mouth, devil. You can chew on it..and chew on it..and chew on it..but you'll never be able to swallow it! But you keep trying. I know you have a job to do.

And it's ok. You be the best devil you can be. Because even at my worst, My father called me by my name. He said, "Netta! Come! You belong to me! Take my hand! Return to me!"

And I dropped everything and WENT! But He told me that you would keep trying, devil, to get at me. But..and you need to grab a hold to this last fact..are you ready?

Fact eight! My Father..my Lord and Savior..promised me that you, devil..WOULD NOT WIN!
